so

couple nites ago, after a fruitless writing/recording session, me and tom decided we needed a little inspiration ... so we threw on "edgar winter, live at the galaxy" and sat back ... the next 70 minutes changed my life in ways i cant even begin to explain ... this might sound harsh, but the only thing i could keep comparing it too was that it was "like watching a slightly retarded person get off on stage" ... from the keyboard to the seering alto sax solos, to the bootleg keytar (really just a regular keyboard with a strap) to the timbale solo, to the overall COCK-ROCKiness of it ... it was just ... wow ...

i mean, the guys been around for a while, and i guess he does carry some cred, and im sure hes a really nice guy ... but man ... i think what really pushed me over was the fact that a tune would start and there would be some "hot licks"^tm being played on the organ, and dude wasnt even moving his fingers around ... he jus had his hands over the keyboard ... and this was on a closeup shot ... and this happened MULTIPLE TIMES ! ... ahhh edgar ... his band pretty much kicked ass too ...

ok, so looks and attitude aside, these guys were badasses on their instruments ... the 5 minute bass solo was impressive ... couldnt find a picture of the drummer, but he looked super pissed the whole show till it got to his solo ... holy hell ... seriously, youve never seen anything like this ... again, technically it was amazing ... but the part where he brought down the intensity to jus playin a pattern on the double bass drum and then TAKES HIS SHIRT OFF WHILE STILL PLAYING jus to start rockin some more was pretty friggin sweet ... edgars costume change to a white cape with rhinestones and pink embroidary (for the ballad) was also a nice touch ...

the icing on the cake was that this dvd was at the crib cause i guess 3 or 4 years ago, chris (drastics bass) got the call bout doin this gig cause the bass player couldnt make a show ... so he bought the dvd to check em out (cause i guess they play the exact same set everynite) ...

take yer time on edgars site ... lotta good stuff to check ...
