Let me just sum up what the article is about: Nebraska's Supreme Court held that the electric chair was cruel and unusual (i.e. an unconstitutional and thus illegal form of capital punishment). Nebraska law only provides for a person to be sentenced to death by electrocution which it can't do now because of the Supreme Court holding. So the big question is what to do with all the inmates sentenced to death? Right now there's no law on the books in Nebraska allowing for an alternate form of execution and even if there were, some of the inmates were specifically sentenced to "death by electrocution". And now the best quote ever:
"If someone tells you with confidence that they know how this will come out, you should get an ounce of what they're smoking," said Bob Schopp, a law professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who specializes in criminal law and capital punishment.Outcome: Nebraska kills them with lethal injection. Now who wants a lid for $450?
