Well, august 2008 will probably go down as the slowest bluntest month to date (see, you might think that we all have broken arms [except pimpernel] but really, its just me. your other contributors have fully functioning extremities, and are just lazy as dirt.) I have been spending a whole lotta time on the 'ol 'puter, but its been on this page, the NY Craft Beer Week site I designed. It's up and running, and quite impressive, if I may say so. Not just the design/functionality, but the event itself is huge. Literally crap-loads of beers, breweries, and bars participating. Any NY readers should definitely consider going. Everything takes me 3x-5x times longer then it should which is why I've only been working on that.

anyway, here's some stuff to gander at.

so livejournal has a really shitty rip off of blogger's "post secret". it's called "secretpost". how original. anyway, i found this and it made me hate angst more than ever. grow up kid.

Sixpoint Craft Ales (aside from having the nicest craft-brewery website I've seen yet) has a "Hop Obama" brew! Their site takes forever to load, but luckily Beer Advocate has copied the text ...

In keeping with the Illinois senator's unifying theme, the "Hop Obama" is an indefinable ale that doesn't adhere to traditional style guidelines. The 5.2% ABV creation contains five different kinds of European crystal malt and three different kinds of Pacific Northwest Hops. Combined with a Scottish yeast strain for fermentation, the result is a highly drinkable beer with a big malt background and an "Obama" of hops that imparts floral and citrus notes with just a hint of spiciness.

Currently only available in NY and MA, so I won't be drinking one anytime soon ... unless I take some time off and head to NYC during NY Craft Beer Week. This site has been alot of the reason I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like. Designed by yours truly, the full site is coming soon ...

The Can Take Our Beer, But They'll Never Take Our Freedom!!!

Anheuser-Busch will be bought for $52 billion by a Belgian company. So now we no longer have to take responsibility for how crappy mainstream American beer is, we can blame the Europeans and Africans.

So what does the InBev buy out mean to the everyman? The foreigners probably will not be met as liberators by unionists, that's for sure. Layoffs will probably be on the way. Hell, InBev even tried to fire the board of directors already. InBev CEO Brito has a history of laying off workers to cut corporate costs.

The bottom line? There'll probably be even more out of work people who have nothing better to do than go to the bar and give their American dollars to foreign companies.
