Blogging Psuedonyms

So I normally don't like to post to other blogs. Unless those blogs are particularly unheard of or just wicked cool. Yes, wicked cool. But, here a well known political blog that's name ends in the feminine "ette" suffix, yet they are amazed when people refer to it with a feminine pronoun, describes the dangers of using blogging pseudonyms and how they just might not work as well as you'd think they would.

Moral of the story? You other fools better come up with a plan B in case someone finds out who you are. It's a good thing I really am the Scarlet Pimpernel!

The Black Nerd Collective

A quick Google search hasn't given any results for "The Nerd Collective", but myspace has The Black Nerd Collective. Actually, it's pretty funny. Such as the Nerd Credential Forum. My favorite credential: 10. I have a shirt that says, "Lionel Richie Fan Club", from this dood

Who is That Masked Douchebag?

So after reading about the new wildlife regulations that are to be published by the Department of Interior and Secretary Dirk Kempthorne (what a douche name), I got to asking myself, "Who is Secretary Douchebag?" So I did some digging. Ok, I checked out wikipedia. I'll highlight the important parts for you who don't like to click:

- He's from Idaho
- He hates the environment
- He was executive vice president of the Idaho Builders Association, not really a pro-environment group
- He holds the record for his position as Secretary for being the least active in putting species on the endangered list
- Early in his career, he was state public affairs officer for FMC, otherwise known as Food Machines and Chemicals. Sounds environmental to me.
- During his tenure at FMC, the corporation was rocked by the Ivan Boesky insider trading scandal. Coincidence? I think not!
- The guy who succeeded Kempthorne's senate seat was named Crapo. Apparently Idahoans only vote for people with funny/douchebag names.
- And apparently Dirk was such a douchebag Idaho had to change it's laws in order to stop him from taking corporate money while he was Governor. The law is called the "Bribery and Corrupt Influences Act".
- He's a douchebag

Normally I'm Against the Death Penalty

But not when it results in hilarity! That Christopher Scott Emmett, what joker! (Except when he's beating his coworker to death with a brass lamp so he can take his money and buy crack, of course.) "Tell my family and friends I love them; tell the governor he just lost my vote," Emmett said in the chamber before he died. "Y'all hurry this along. I'm dying to get out of here."

Stoopidest Injury Ever

Ok, this is a semi-sports story so I'll break it down for all you non-sports fans out there. So two brothers are quarterbacks in the NFL (the guys who throw the ball) and they go back home and chop some wood. Here's the good part: "Back home in Texas, McCown said he was holding the firewood and his brother, a backup quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, cut his finger instead of the wood."

Why in the hell are you holding the wood your brother is chopping? It's wood, it's not going to run away from you. The Mofo might lose his job over this. Stoopid.

Self-Defense Video

I feel kind of bad for finding this funny. Maybe it's the guys accent. Maybe it's cause he sings while hitting the guys head on the table. I dunno. I still feel bad about it though.

Happy American Craft Beer Week!!!

Drink a pint and celebrate all that there is to being an American! And in case you're wondering, no, this is not a hallmark holiday. It's a Federal Holiday as proclaimed by House Resolution 753(which originated in the Committee on Government Reform for some reason). Here's my favorite part of HR 753:

"Whereas American crafter brewers promote the Nation's spirit of independence through a renaissance in hand-crafted beers like those first brought to colonial shores by European settlers and produced here by the Nation's founding fathers, including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, for the enjoyment of the citizenry;"

That's right! Up your butt Independence Day! I got a new favorite holiday for celebrating being an American. And this mo-fo is a week long!

(On a personal note, this holiday could not have come at a better time. I lost a take-home exam that was due on Monday, had to rewrite 30+ pages of it on Sunday, had an in-class exam on Monday and then another on Tuesday.)
