Obama told executives not to spend taxpayers' money on going to Vegas.

New York Times says "Las Vegas: Still a Good Bet" in their travel section because of it's low-cost.

Goldman Sachs cancelled their corporate trip to Vegas and moved it to San Francisco. The cancellation alone cost $600k. There's no details on whether the move saved any money at all or ended up costing more money. My bet is on the latter.

Pimpernel and I watched the electoral version of a slam-dunk on a grainy little 13" TV perched atop a picture booth at a real old school Chicago bar called Wee Gees. Good Times! There was many people and shuffle board! Huzzah!

So by now we all know that crazy McCain campaigner wasn't really attacked by OJ Simpson wielding a knife and carving fertility symbols into any and all McCain supporter's cheeks ... or whatever it was she claimed ... but this is just the kind of story that headline bias is quite susceptible to. And since most American's get their news in headline format ONLY, I think this is kind of an important phenomenon to investigate. So let's take a look at the way different media outlets covered this story ...

I tried to find information on any bias this paper might have, but came up with nothing. This is still interesting though. Calling this story a "tall tale" doesn't exactly give it the weight that I believe it deserves. "Tall tale" brings up images of Paul Bunyan and Joe Henry, not crazy bitches lying about having their faces carved by eccentric Obama supporters as a political ploy to discredit Obama.

McCain Campaign Volunteer Admits Alleged Attack Was a Hoax

This one's a lil' more clever. By putting the word "alleged" into the title it sort of twists the whole thing into a whole "yeah, well, we didn't think it was real either." Obviously not typical FOX News behavior, but it does follow suit with their Executive VP's quote that "If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting." Is FOX News getting their ducks in-a-line in anticipation of an Obama victory?

McSpeedy, a character I created for the sole purpose of what the video is all about." The email (while hilarious) does not include a link to anything. Instead, it rambles (seemingly) endlessly about this Mr. W. McSpeedy and a certain Sen. Zero whom "holds the opposite political position of that Mr. W. McSpeedy stands for." Fortunately, someone in the "comments" section knows how to use a search box ... here 'tis ... it is truly ... something ...

Sixpoint Craft Ales (aside from having the nicest craft-brewery website I've seen yet) has a "Hop Obama" brew! Their site takes forever to load, but luckily Beer Advocate has copied the text ...

anyone with a 3rd grade education (even an American 3rd grade education) can immediately see through/debunk this "article" ... my heightened annoyance stems from the combination of this being on Google News' main page and me being on my 5th beer. my favorite quote ...

So what jumped out at me was how quickly Obama regretted his decision. And that, in turn, made me wonder how often the senator has regretted other choices. Answer: pretty often. (Googling "Obama" and "regrets" yields more than a million hits.)

Ol' Boggy then goes on to describe exactly three (3) times Obama has "regretted" something. One (1) for each year 2006-2008. First off, 3 regrets in 3 years for someone who is NEW to the scrutiny of the public eye is a pretty good record. Especially since one of the "Regrets" listed was letting his daughters be on Entertainment Tonight, or whatever show it was. I dunno, maybe there's a direct link there to National Security Policy I'm just not seeing. Just because Obama acknowledged making mistakes doesn't indict him as the only politicians who DOES make mistakes. Bush's M.O. has been the political equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming "NAHNAHNAHNAHNAHNAH". Really, all of this makes me wonder; what is with this strange national obsession against a president showing humility? I understand the current precedence (of at least the past 8 years) is that our Commander-in-Chief does what he damn-well-pleases and not-never-no-how apologizes for anything. But ...... I mean, even conservatives don't like Bush anymore, so what gives? Have people already forgotten what happens when a head strong president does what he wants? We end up in 2 quagmire wars with no end and no purpose, a faltering economy and a severely damaged ecological state. If this is the best The Right can come up with against Obama, they should take those McCain campaign bucks and hire Karl Rove back. Though he's so busy ducking subpoenas from Congress he might not have time ...

oh, and i'm just taking a break from freelance work right now ... s'only reason i'm up and mostly sober at 3am ...
