Blagojevich

Okey dokey, so it looks like it's my job to post about Blagojevich getting charge. Here we go . . . .

On Tuesday, Blagojevich was arrested by the FBI. He is being charged with: 1) mail and wire fraud conspiracy, and 2) corruptly soliciting and demanding bribes. Though I'm not really sure if there's any non-corrupt way to solicit and demand bribes. (Also, apparently this violates Title 18 of the United States Code, Section 666!)

Apparently the bribes revolved around the Trib selling Wrigley with State assistance in exchange for them firing some people critical of Blago. Since this likely would've involved mail/phones that can cross state lines, the feds get involved. Going back to this document, check out paragraph 13, on page 7. That's a list of all the corrupt things he's being charged with:
a) Taking bribes for state commission appointments, state contracts, etc. The next two items are going to get more attention in the press, cause they involve Obama and the Cubs, but this is the bread and butter. This is what got the FBI's attention in the first place five or so years ago. Most of the complaint involves this shit (through page 43 of 78). Apparently, Blago kicked into overdrive for this because new State Ethic laws, effective January 1, severely limit the amount of campaign contributions an individual can receive.
b) Trib/Wrigley deal. Why he'd try to extort a newspaper that could, you know, report that shit? I don't know. A good line from the complaint, paragraph 73: "During the call [regarding the Trib's editorials], ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s wife can be heard in the
background telling ROD BLAGOJEVICH to tell Deputy Governor A “to hold up that
fucking Cubs shit. . . fuck them.”" Stay classy, Peggy B

c) Selling Obama's empty Senate seat for Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Obama Administration. (Could be an uh-oh for Obama, or at least someone close to him.) Apparently he was also willing to take a job working for a union which a bidder was willing to try to work about for Blago and a union favored by the bidder. (Interesting, hopefully I'll remember to look in to that)

So this shit is getting mad attention in the press, as it should. (2,500 news hits in the first day) So what can I say that hasn't already been said? Let's deal with what should happen to Blago.

Lisa Madigan wants the Supreme Court of Illinois to kick Blago out. I'm not 100% sure on how this'll work and I don't think anyone else is too sure about this one either. I think she was performing her due diligence on how she can help get the jerk out of office.

Here's an article from Slate that covers the rest. Yeah, I'm copping out, but I got finals and it's my lady's birthday today and I got shit to do. More on this later and, most importantly, my thoughts on the Slate article. Pop quiz tomorrow.

in the running for "Best Image on the Internet"

Got this image off a link off the ol' Wonkette (I need to stop biting them) ...
But this image is amazing. It was accompanied with the caption ...
The great flood has ended. The world and indeed all life is possible again! Noah, let's be happy, celebrate and have a party! Laughing
It's some weird game called ZooRace where you get to live out both your Furry fantasy, and your Old Testament Fantasies. Apparently in this version of the Bible, Noah's ark was some kind of floating gay discotheque with kitsch religious iconography on the walls that catered to a specifically Furry crowd.

Check out the gameplay! It looks like Mario Cart 64 without any of the cool characters, or items, or ... fun. Check out about 20 seconds in when all of a sudden there's dinosaurs?! Comon! We all know Michael Chriton invented those in a cabal-style conspiracy led by the Secularist Left!

Operation Humble Kanye

I tried to embed, but I cannot.

Stephen Colbert taking on Kanye. The line about him barely being the voice of his album is pretty funny.

And Kanye's at #2 on iTune's top album list, Colbert is at #4. (Britney Spears is at #1. I love pop music.)

Speaking of pop music, apparently Beyonce has a song "If I were a Boy". I hope that songs concludes that if she was a boy, she would probably be living at home with her parents, probably just got laid off. Cause really, she's only a pretty face (and ass), she's not that good at singing, she can't really dance. Her voice is ok, but not so good that she should be making a brazillian dollars from it.

Mashed Potatoes

So got an email from my mom to all the kids in the family asking what we're all bringing for Thanksgiving. I replied "Mashed potatoes" with this attached.

I know, nothing new. We've all seen it even before everything you've ever wanted to see, and more, has been put on youtube. Remember when if you wanted to see that clip you had to watch it Saturday night on Cartoon Planet? Good times. Working for entertainment. Not like kids these days.

Anyway, I was on the youtube and found a recipe for ghetto potatoes and yak-yak.

That's What The Tailor Said

So I was protesting out in front of the Banana Republic at Old Orchard mall and then Surjeet called me and said "dude you left your Modern Action Club card at the Kite's house, but don't worry I picked it up for you, I'll meet you at Bumpkin's...or do you wanna just grab some nachos when we get to the Skatium?".

Annd Scene

Flash forward 11 years to the present day and THIS VIDEO

First off - that's def the fireside right? The crowd shots certainly are.
Who cares? Me, that's who - any opportunity to find decade-old goofy-ska-dancing footage of someone we know is precious and should not be squandered.
So get to freeze framing some grainy youtube people, this is for the common good.

Second - Joan Axthelm....sweet sweet Joan Axthelm...She's the backup singer on the left. I would have burned my bomber jacket for her. Couldn't find anything current but want to know her phone number and exactly where she was on Dec. 3rd, 2000? Me too.

And...now that the previous link has breached the subject...

Wasn't that guy's name Barack and didn't he LOVE the Socialisms ?
I knew FOX was right.

Yes, I know this contains nary more than a youtube video and is relevant to only a handful of people and someone here won't like that.
But I know that Driz also happens to spin those old tunes on occasion, so maybe I'll get a pass.

Typealyzer

via wonkette ...

Some web device that analyzes what kind of person or people write a blog. I have no idea what the criteria is or what they actually look at while "Typealyzing" a blog.
So naturally I tossed the ol' Bluntest into the wood chipper to see what would come out ...
ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

A brain chart analysis (swear to god) of Bluntest contributors shows predominance in the "Sensing" section of the brain while writing. And while there was spillover into the "Practical" and "Feeler" areas, the "Thinking" area of the brain was untouched. Huzah! Naturally I'm writing this while baking cookies and wearing silk pajamas within an egg shaped pod painted neon green.
